Very rare 1548 edition princeps of the Roman History of Dio Cassius, printed by Robert Estienne

"Editio princeps of the extant books of the Roman History of Dio Cassius... the only ancient account of the invasion of Britain by Claudius" (Schreiber, 96).

First edition, the editio Princeps, of Dio Cassius's important Roman history. A very scarce edition, with just one other recorded copy in the past 25 years. Boards rubbed, marginal dampstaining mainly to first 30 leaves, generally clean and sound. Rare.
